Panchgani Pyaar

A photo journey of a ride from Pune to Panchgani

On the so-called most romantic day of the year, Boo and I decided to visit our bestie in Pune, so Valentine’s could be spent in the cozy and chill atmosphere of Panchgani, living up to the moniker.

So that’s me and Boo at the airport! (Our first trip together, if I may add)

I was so disappointed to see the oily stains on the window.

Naturally, my inner Monica had to be channeled!

We landed in Pune at midnight and drove straight to Bee’s place, and after some midnight munchies, crashed int other night.

We woke up, showered and dressed by 6 and were off to Wakad to begin the Great Valentine Adventure – The Bike Ride to Panchgani. We were to hire a cruise bike – an Avenger 220, and Bee was to borrow his friend’s Pulsar. As most trips go, they get onto a rough start and this one was no different. After Waiting, Eating, and Fighting and Letting go in that order, we began the much-awaited ride!

We were finally psyched to be off!

And when we hit the highway – Oh Sweet Jesus!
IMG_20200213_133723
The wide roads gave way to breath-taking, winding roads among the hills

After multiple pit-stops, and a gut-clenching worry that I may have forgotten to book the Zostel, we stopped at an idyllic village scene for fresh sugarcane juice. It was so heartwarming to see this!

We reached our destination – the Zostel around 12-ish and were amazed at the view!

The Panchgani Zostel was simply superb! The compactness of these container rooms and the view out of those mini balconies was so damn nice! Definitely worth a visit once-in-our-lifetime!

IMG_20200213_133505
And then we began doing what we came for – Sightseeing of course! Just look at this beaut.

And this …

And another one…

And then we reached so many viewpoints, where yours truly did her magic…

And yes, we went to the famed ‘Mapro Gardens’ although it was too late to tour the garden.
IMG20200213191637
Did some touristy things like act surprised at seeing so many hues of flower babies.

Mapro is a huge strawberry farm that encourages visitors to go and pluck strawberries during the fruit season, but they’re mostly renowned cause of their range of jams, fruit syrups, and jelly-based chocolates but if the store at the premise is anything to go by, they’ve ventured into an exhaustive range of product lines right from dark chocolate, cocktail flavours, tea-flavour infusers, and the ubiquitous Gujrati Khakra!

IMG20200213192655
Mapro is also famed for its club sandwich, a massive combination of vegetables and cheese which can easily leave 2 foodies stuffed! I, however, wasn’t such a fan! Ooh, and you ought to try the Strawberries with Fresh Cream if you love desserts.

After Mapro, we pretty much crashed and missed the night-walk organized by Zostel. I was so glad to know that it got canceled because no one showed up.

IMG_20200214_065307
I sneaked out early next morning and basked in the light morning solitude.

IMG_20200214_071026
And it was so serene and nice.

As we woke up and rode around, yours truly was the navigator and might have missed a bunch of turnings, but guess what, it led us to a temple that Bee was looking forward to visit but we hadn’t factored it into our plans. So basically, the Divine does work in mysterious ways!

The rest of Day 2 was spent Monkeying around at Arthur’s Seat

And because it was Valentine’s, Boo clicked my pic with Bee!

This was also the trip where remakes of ‘Pati Patni aur Woh’ could originate.

And there’s a lot more of those…

Bidding Farewell to our Container Home – the Zostel!

Day 3 had a rather interesting start. As we were having a cuppa chai after a sumptuous breakfast, a random stranger walked up to us and began to insist that we allow him to read our hands! After some convincing, the 3 of us gave in and got our so-called ‘future’ read. Never done that before, so that was a first!

So we bid goodbye to some terrefic memories and rode back through the amazing roads, stopping by for Sugarcane just as we had earlier.

And that was that, folks! Hope you had a good read 🙂

Photo Story – Mumbai Memories

My last post was a riot of negativity. I don’t really believe in deleting posts but perhaps sometime down the line, I may remove it. Today, let’s talk through pictures.

I have amassed quite a few gems that I haven’t shared on social media and I’d like to take you through the maze.

maggi.PNG

Let us start with a picture of an all-time favorite. Indian mothers’ love-hate relationship with this brand will continue forever and yet the kids will continue to love it! Here’s my attempt to rid myself of the guilt of indulging in this bowl of goodness. I haven’t had Maggi for more than a month now because I’m home and home means wholesome meals!

IMG_20180302_151127.jpg

Continuing the trend of love-hate relationships is this girl – Baman who’s like the Salman Khan of my life. There are phases when I love her, phases when I want to throttle her, and there are moments of pure ignorance. Inspite of all these phases, she’s that rock solid support system – always there. Baman – you be my bro man! Two months will be up soon, so I hope you’re going to want to talk to me soon!

IMG_20180308_171457.jpg

If there were people in my previous organisation that I’d want to spend hours with – it would be the two of you – Meow and Woof! I can’t stop marveling over how you just click with some people and that gets carried on!

IMG_20180309_210018.jpg

This lady up here has energy level that can give serious competition to your childhood’s favorite toy – the Crazy Ball. Yep, she’s here, there, everywhere, and rocking at it. Didn’t think we’d become fast friends but man, here we are!

IMG_20180321_020243.jpg

Mandala colouring is an all-time hobby and I love doing this while watching something. I know this might mean that the series does not get 100 percent of my attention, but I’m okay with that.

Faking a wedding pic because Madam Bestie had lied to her friends about the real reason why she came to Mumbai, instead of going on a trip with the latter. (Bestie just missed me and wanted to shower some love!)

IMG_20180329_174507.jpg

Just casually trying to show off  a tonne of things out here. My mirror image aka the grumpy cat, the feisty nails, and the cute little bag gifted by Boo.

A pretty reminder of nature – notice the symphony between the soil and the sky.

This was taken on my first trip to Haji Ali. It’s a soulful place and one that is immensely calming. I took some tough decisions out here, sitting on the steps and watching the waves go on till infinity.

Haji Ali – In all its Friday splendour and glory.

TBH I also did a double take when it came to this picture. It’s not the finger you imagined!

Any season, any time, and with anyone (read no one) – Mumbai’s Marine Drive is a favorite and has seen me in different phases of life and emotions.

Any takers for fluffy flowers!?

To Harry Potter – for being the constant companion in life and to ever-growing friendships in life. Also, special thanks to Ashu – for initiating me into our cult, and for being my Padfoot, Always.

To good hair days and colleagues-turned-friends.

The second time at Haji Ali. Before heading out to Noorani cafe for the best Chicken Tikka Biryani there can be.

To waking up to a morning full of limitless possibilities….

Adios Amigos. 🙂

Musafir Hoon Yaaron!

I have a new, old-favorite song and it’s been buzzing in my head all day. I guess I’m indulging in a lot of retro. Here are the lyrics of the new love:

Musafir Hoon Yaaron

Na Ghar Hai, Na Tikhana

Mujhe Chalte Jaana Hai

Bas… Chalte Jaana Hai!

I love the melody and how peaceful it is. I do have a home and I do have shelter but I find it a solace to just keep moving on, traveling and experiencing the simplest pleasures of life.

Here’s the video if you want to revel in the beauty of this timeless music by R.D Burman in the soulful voice of Kishore Kumar.

#ThirtyTrinkets Day 12

After a rather tumultuous break on the blog front, I’m back for the long haul. It’s a pleasant albeit slightly gloomy welcome to the beautiful symbiosis campus, oh so often do I thank my stars for this bliss. Four and half hours of CRM lecture and tomorrow’s off seems legit. So ‘Nya, ‘Lya and I are embarking on Pune Darshan tomorrow. I have my doubts about the trip owing to monsoon but come on, it’s now or never. If you’ve thought it, you ought to do it.

On an unrelated yet extremely important note, else I wouldn’t be doing justice to the title, I wore these pretty scorpion trinkets today.

Scorpions bring a certain element of distrust in me and reminds me of the poem we had in Class ten.

Mind-less-ness Much?

It’s one of those days when your mind needs a holiday.

After a particularly relaxing weekend, you may wonder why you need the luxury of a holiday but what’s in the mind is at times far too intense than what’s outside, for real. But then, you could disagree with me. ‘Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?’ Okay, point taken. Everything is real, okay? Okay.

I feel a bit off  today. I think I finally realise, you can NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, force friendships. It shouldn’t have come across as a surprise to a skeptic like me, but when it comes to people, I surprise myself with the ideology of hope.

You can be nice to people but you still have a selected group of ‘your people’ and this is not even in the Meredith-Yang kind of way. You just have a close-knit group and you could not care less about the rest. I find this really disappointing. It infuriates me when people leave answers and decisions hanging. I asked a mate for some help and she excitedly agreed. I waited for a while, hoping she’d perhaps bring up the topic herself so that I don’t feel like I’m imposing, but it never comes. Why don’t you just be blatant from the very beginning and say No? I’d appreciate the frankness and respect the No. I know how hard it is to say No. How annoying is it to have your hopes quashed ever so often?

I go back to college in a month and I’ll be in the midst of such groups again but you won’t see me amid those huge, supposedly ‘fun’ peeps. I don’t get groups. I tried being a part of them and then my mind began shutting out people. I’ve got space for a few, perhaps just two. And I’m still not going to differentiate between your people and mine.

snapp

Here’s an interesting picture.

My nomad friend says it has as many interpretations as you’d want it to have. I think I can sum it up in just one word – Life.

Care to discuss it? If yes, then comment. If not, then good day to you amigo.

Adios.
